Day 4

After Dark

Written by Samantha Short

The still quiet, gentle glow of small lights after dark,
lanterns lighting faery homes, nestled in the branches
of spruce and pine.
A world of sprites and spiral paths, all leading upwards
to the Star of Light.

At night the creatures skip and scamper, pick their way through
mistletoe,
steal kisses from their neighbours’ daughters.

Un-ribboning strings,
de-ordering things,
creating happy chaos.
